Criminal Record Check
The Canadian Criminal Record Check is a vital tool that can be used when conducting your tenant screening. The criminal record check includes a search via CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre) of the RCMP National Repository of Criminal Records to determine if your applicant does or does not have a criminal record.
A Premium Criminal Record Check is also available. This check includes the information above as well as:
- Criminal conviction for which a pardon has not been granted and conditional and absolute discharges which have not been removed from the CPIC system
- Probation Information
- Prohibited person information
- Wanted person information
- Accused person information
Criminal record searches are conducted using your applicant's full name and date of birth provided. A criminal record search takes approximately 24 business hours to complete and results will be emailed to you upon completion.
CPIC requires you to use a specific consent form (criminal record verification informed consent form) along with a declaration form (declaration of a criminal record) which are to be completed by your applicant before they will conduct a search. Two pieces of required identification are also required. Please click the links below for access to both forms and a list of what identification is acceptable.
